For those who don't know, Bob Dylan was legendary in the music world. He has been influential in popular music and culture for more than five decades. His songs spoke to the people of America about social unrest back in the '60s to help society cope with the changing world around them.

He was the man of the folk revival in the 60s and his 1963 album “Freewheelin’Bob Dylan” was the first all original folk album. His no-nonsense lyrics represent the confidence and optimism of the Youth Movement. He become the embodiment of 60‘s folk. All americans worshiped him for being a folk genius and looked to him and his music as guidance and support for what was going on in the world around them.

Dylan became disillusioned with political activism after President Kennedy’s death. In July 25, 1965 at the Newport folk festival, Dylan unveiled his new electric sound to the folk community. People were horrified and began to boo him. His 1965 Album: “Bringing It All Back Home” contains ‘Subterranean Homesick Blues’ the first Folk song to use electric guitar & drums.

He was ridiculed by old-school folksters, and secured a national audience with his new electric sound and became a big selling artist selling millions of albums. Dylan became a commercial success with a sound that inspired Folk Rock.

By 1965 various other artists had recorded 48 different Dylan songs, most of the concerned with topics other than protest.

No one will ever have as big of an impact on the music world as Dylan. He will forever be a famous part of music history and music development.

In fact, this year in October 2016, Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in Literature. This is not a likely award for a musician, but Dylan's song writing was so inspiring and influential, that he made history. Read the story on Rolling Stone HERE
