1970s

History

 The 70s are considered the first generation of classic rock. The sounds developed in the 60s changed in the 70s  when the roots of punk rock were born. The music society changed from the social activism movement that took place in the 60s, into society of people being more self absorbed. The 70s music was referred to as hippie music.

Popular 70's Bands

Led Zeppelin (1968-1980)- An English rock band formed in London consisting of guitarist Jimmy Page, singer Robert Plant, bassist and keyboardist John Paul Jones, and drummer John Bonham. This band was known for its heavy, guitar-driven sound.

Aerosmith(1970)- An American rock band known as and "America's Greatest Rock and Roll Band.” They were formed in Boston, Massachusetts and consist of guitarist Joe Perry and bassist Tom Hamilton, vocalist/pianist/harmonicist Steven Tyler, drummer Joey Kramer, and guitarist Ray Tabano.

                       

Eagles(1971)-An American rock band formed in Los Angeles. The band is made up of Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. The Eagles have five number-one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums. They were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s.
